ode to a queen size bed # 23
by Jeffrey Paggi

Right away, you put me at ease,
put me to sleep,
with camel lights, and candle light nights,

silencing that ancient conversation
with yellowed newspaper articles, saying:
Write away, you put me at ease,

you take me down with burning hugs,
in piles of fallen leaves, & nightime pumpkins with glowing eyes—
with camel lights, and candle light nights.

I wake up in Sunday breezes and village
gravel—scraped knees, in dusty-silken voices saying:
Write away, you put me at ease.

Invading midnight-living room's diaries,
(some antiquated rusty oil-lamp dream,)
with camel lights, and candle light nights.

You; singing corner street lights,
and tree house star nights.
Write away, you put me at ease,
with camel lights, and candle light nights.
